[NSRCA-discussion] Nat's finals -> Muncie site preparation, grass site?

All -
Site 4 is a real concern and has been for some time.  I've been assigned the task of chairing our 75th Anniversary celebration this summer, July 14 - July 17 - this event was scheduled on top of the Soaring Nats taking place on Site 5, so all RC planes will be flown from Site 4 during the 75th.  One of the things I've done is hire an outside firm to start maintaining Site 4 through the end of this flying season.  While this won't be a long term solution, it will improve the grass surface this year.
Wayne Yeager came in yesterday to lead the project of putting all new lines and circles down and I spoke with him about the concern Verne and others have had with Line 1 on Site 3.  He indicated that they were aware of it and would fix it.
Hope this all comes together for a very busy summer!
Pritch

Hi Glen,
I never went over to that site. I was hoping to put some time on Site 3 on Friday as part of my perpetual quest of what is straight there, but a pylon contest had the site for the weekend. Maybe one of the other guys that were there last weekend will see this and report back.

Verne,

What about the grass site (4 I think?), any improvements there?  That site has been troublesome in the past to the Intermediate and Advanced pilots due to the grass length during the Nationals.

Wonder if there are plans to prepare it any differently to better facilitate and minimize risk to contestants practicing for the the Worlds and for NATs competition.

Regards,

Glen Watson

Speaking of which, I was just at the AMA site last weekend for the annual D4/D5 contest. All the asphalt on the runways has been resurfaced and they’re about ¾ of the way done resurfacing the roadways within the AMA site. Flying off of new asphalt is about as good as it gets!

The box lines haven’t been painted yet but I’m sure they’ll be done long before the F3A World’s and our Nats. I asked Bill Pritchett if he’d try and influence the markings on Site 3 since it’s always been confusing and the western-most station is just wrong. Bill’s going to see what he can do since he’s a full-time AMA employee as well as a very good pattern pilot.

Things are looking up for the World’s and the Nats!!!

Jarvis,

The NSRCA does not get the $100 from your entry fee… it only gets a portion of it.  Traditionally only places 1 thru 6th have been given trophies in Intermediate and Advanced…

Will there be a finals for Intermediate and Advanced class, if so will they persent trophy thru 8th place, just as they do in Masters and FAI.
Thats the least, that the NSRCA can do for my $100.00 entrie fee
