cut the piece of wood out of the back of the cowl. not the complete piece, just what is in the way.

My Focus II cowl clears the mounted YS 140 FZ but it has a former at the rear of the cowl, around the pipe tunnel, through which it appears the exhaust header must pass.  How do you get the cowl on and off with the exhaust mounted?
