[NSRCA-discussion] D4 Champs

Taken as a whole, the competition and quality of flying was among the best I've seen at a local contest, both as a contestant and from the judging chair. The large turnout in Sportsman, Intermediate, and Advanced was very encouraging and tells me the difficulty levels of the schedules in each of those classes is just about right. We need to be very careful about changes we make to those schedules down the road so we don't mess it up.

>From a contestant perspective, the competition was awesome with ideal flying conditions. In Masters, any one of four pilots were in a position to win after the first 4 rounds and just a minor mistake in a flight could easily drop you from first to fourth. It was great to be a part of it. Great friends, great times!

Yes, thanks to Bob and Amy Pannell, Mark Atwood, The Flying Cardinals, and all the people that help that made this contest a great success.

The steaks were worth the trip. let alone the nearly ideal flying conditions.

As always, great job to Mark Atwood and Bob Pannell...Alright...Amy Pannell too...

Special thanks to Anthony A. for working with Tony S. and calling/coaching a practice flight for him. Tony also appreciated the help from Arch S. for getting Tony some hardware to make repairs...

The last D4 Champs contest we attended was 2004. I can't believe it's been that long. This also marks the first season back since about 2006.

Tony Schauberger flew Sportman on Sunday and enjoyed the Steak Roast, Combat and the Night Fly...I think he will make a few contests with me next year as well.

We had a great time and if you didn't attend the D4 Champs, you missed great flying, great weather, and great people.

We are back, and I'll get my 2M planes ready for next year...

Where is everyone staying?

Lisa and I will make the D4 Champs...I'm going to fly a Tower Kaos 40 in Intermediate.

A friend (Sportsman) may show up late Saturday. Can he jump in and fly two rounds on Sunday if I get him signed up Saturday morning? He and his wife have personal commits they can't back out of for Saturday morning. He flew his first contest at Evansville in July.
