I'd also like to see something in the line of on-line testing modules at ones leasure instead of sitting in a room for hours for recertification. As you can tell, I hate sitting through training period. My useful attention span is about two hours.

It seems to me the recertification link to new sequences is there simply to help us all keep track of when we need to get the refresher. The link to FAI seems to make a lot of sense since it values our national team to have judges at local contests up to date on all rule changes.  
  The easiest thing is to just make the change and give everyone one more year on their current certification. However by this time next year u will have flown the new sequence about 400 times and would be open to considering a new sequence if one were submitted.   Now that we have actual guidelines we might have created a nice incubator environment. Looking forward to reading them

But certifcation is always  going to be needed for those who have never been certified. 

Obviously this coming year we will all need recertification or certification. There have been massive changes. 

The next question is. When are we going to finally get to the point where there is very little changed in the rule book ? With the rule book as it is written, probably not quite. As long as I can remember there have been changes constantly being made to the rule book. 

 Is it time for the ruie book to be overhauled and cleaned up to get to this point? I say probably. Sounds like a task for the Judging Committtee and the Contest Board combined.

Mark, 

There hasn't been any discussion on this at all.  We could move in that direction with the next sequences that get approved for Sportsman, Intermediate and Advanced, but, as you mentioned, that would mean we only get to keep those sequences for 3 years.  I'm not in favor of changing these again in 2012 - I think that is too soon. 

We can poll everyone next year to find out...

Has there been any discussion around getting the AMA schedules and the FAI schedule onto the same cycle?  This would help tremendously with Judging certification.   Assuming that we can’t really impact the FAI 2 year cycle, it would mean either keeping these new AMA schedules for 3 years, or introducing new schedules again in 2012.  

Personally these seem like great schedules, but I realize that 3 years is a long time to keep one sequence.   Any thoughts?  Maybe look to change Masters again in a year but keep the rest?   Just thinking out loud.

Everyone, 

The NSRCA board has approved the proposed sequences for Sportsman, Intermediate and Advanced for 2011 (and beyond).  The NSRCA board also approved the short Masters sequence for use in 2011/2012.  I look forward to a great 2011 flying season with these new sequences. 

In addition, the board also approved the sequence development guide - the revised version will be posted on the website this evening along with the new sequences for 2011. 

Thanks for everyone's patience on this... since this is our first time going through this process, we really wanted to make sure we got it right so that we could meet our goal of approving new sequences in future years by October 1st prior to the year of actually using them.
