[NSRCA-discussion] Servicing Servos

I suspect that when you get them back, you will find that your flying
improves some! It is easy to get used to poor performing servos, when it
happens slowly over time. We think that we are just not a sharp as we were,
or the airplane is getting tired. New pots can really bring a model back
to life!

OK, I got just over 300 flights on these servos so I suppose they really
need service.

I'll package them up and them off to you.

Thanks

Colin.

Generally. Sometimes a poor fitting cam or even a motor can be required. I
usually don't deal with motors, as their cost (>$50!) makes it cheaper to
get another servo.

Thanks Tony.

Is the Pot replacement the only work needed to recover the performance and
give another 100-200 flights?

Colin:
I do a lot of competition pattern servos here at Radio South. Most of the
time, you will be able to get 100-200 flights on servos, however there are
some that say they can feel degradation of centering in as few a 30 flights.
Most of the time, replacing a pot will cost you around $20 per servo.

Generally, are people servicing their servos? How often (for glow powered
airplanes) and does the service correct chatter about the centre?

Where is a good place to send Futaba Servos and what's the typical cost and
turn around time?

Thanks

Colin.
