[NSRCA-discussion] Batteries again

In reality, I've still got a couple deep discharge batteries that could be implemented and a couple smaller power supplies--but I did learn early on you can't really have enough chargers.

There is a duty cycle factor in this also. Although I have driven the system fairly hard for several days in a row at times and have had no failures--I know there have been some and as time goes on--this IS hobby stuff--there WILL be some--and I really do not like to spend my entire evening running out to the garage every few minutes to check on stuff..

What do you backup the iota 75 with?

OK, now that you brought it up--FWIW--one charger isn't enough as you need a back-up. Two really isn't enough because as you said you don't want to spend all night charging the night before and you really need a back-up for those two. So practically, you really need three and you can knock out 6 sets in a couple hours. I have a hard time burning through 5 sets after work--depending how many are at the field. I have a pair of 6Ses that are back-ups for the 10Ses--otherwise I would have a fourth 10S. If you have the energy left after flying, you could partially charge--say up to 65% or so and you could knock 'em all out in an hour the next flying eve. I run them with an Iota 75 at 4.2 amps.

Another benefit would be the lack of a generator. Just buy some extra Zippy packs and you won't need to charge at the field.

Hmmm, never thought of that. However, given the recent discussion about charging batteries unattended, I don't think I would want to spend the night in the garage the day before I go to the flying field. :-)
