That's interesting about George's experience at the St. Louis contest, as we had a very similar situation at my contest in Mira Mar (San Diego) yesterday.  Steve Dente also won 3 rounds in Advanced and lost to our AVP Jarvis Johnson.  The scorekeeper and I had to take a hard look at the numbers to be sure it was right - and it was.  I guess the computer doesn't lie.  But very frustrating for Steve, and it shows that consistency will win in the end.

Thanks for your kind words, Mike.  My brother, Mike, and I made the 6-hour
drive from NW Arkansas, and we had a ball at the St. Louis contest.  It was
well run and was full of great competition.  George Ashley had to be talking
to himself on the ride home trying to figure out how he could win 3 rounds
in Advanced and finish 3rd!  It was great to finally meet some of the
northern D5 guys in person and see you fly.  It was a terrific experience.

I actually flew in 3 Intermediate contests last year, and I was all set to
fly the whole season in Intermediate this year.  At the first contest,
however, I was the only Intermediate pilot, so the CD asked that I fly
Advanced.  It was great fun: too much fun for me to move back to
Intermediate :)  I've been blessed with a lot of great friends at the Broken
Arrow, OK club who have helped me out a lot.  All the D5 guys have been
great friends and a big help.
