Thanks to Bill Ahrens, Ed White and the whole Boeing field crew for a delightful weekend.
The weather while a tad hotter than us northerners are used to but was decent enough. The flying was pretty good too. Tons of crazy wind conditions and the worst thermal activity I can ever remember flying thru.
Lots of guys have done the switch over to E. in that area and all seemed to be doing well with it.
Advanced was particularly well contested and the guy who took third actually won 3 rounds. I don't think I've ever seen a contest that close. Adam Barry/Ford won with Bob Lavey just a few points behind and George Ashley taking third. All flew very well. I was very impressed with all 3 fliers but have to mention that Bob Lavey is only in his second year of pattern and decided to skip Intermediate. He just lost to some pretty tough competition by an eyelash. I find that to be impressive.
Dave Snow mid aired for the second time this year and again took the worst of the battle much like what between him and Tony Frak at the nats. Both planes landed but Dave's damage is very significant. Joe's plane had minor damage and was able to continue on.It was half way thru Dave's flight #1. I loaned him my Integral because he just had to do a data transfer on our compatible SD10G Airtronics. He showed me what my plane is capable of and won first in Masters. I've never seen a guy fly someone else's plane that well with no practice. I knew my plane was good but that really proved it. Dave Snow is a very talented flier.
Bill Ahren's won in Fai and showed great improvement from his starting point earlier in the season. The F schedule in FAI is brutal!
Todd Schmitt had his new E. Mystic plane at the contest. Its stunningly beautiful and flys very well.
Thanks all for a great time. Thanks to my Chicago buddies for making the trip so much fun afterwards. Mike Mueller
