I'm not sure we can assume he was fired.
 
I had a chance to meet him at the Red Bull Air Races in New York recently. In talking with him, it was apparent that he was doing his best to get the AMA budget balanced, and he sounded frustrated that the board wanted to spend more money than they had coming in. Could just be that he was frustrated enough to leave, or maybe he had a better offer somewhere else.

Cherry is no longer the ED of AMA, but where did you get that he was fired? Steve left the AMA over 3 years ago as well, so that is hardly breaking news either!!
