There were some practice sites that were about 50 miles away from the main
contest site.  Bear in mind that in Portugal a lot of competitors did not
stay at the hotel that was very close to the worlds site but chose to stay
at hotels in a town that was about 25 minutes drive away (on a freeway).
The US team, along with France, China, Hong Kong, UK, Russia and the Ukraine
chose to practice at an air base about 35 miles away from our hotel.  Some
sites were within about 15 minutes drive as well.
