[NSRCA-discussion] 2.4G Required at next Nats??

It was not Dave's decision. It was a joint AMA/NSRCA decision. AMA wants all RC activity at the site by 2011 to be DSS. Helicopter and Pylon are already there. The compromise was to allow Advanced and Intermediate to be allowed to continue operating on 72 for one more year. I bet at least 80 percent of the guys in Masters and FAI flew DSS at the Nats in 2009. Of course the plus side to DSS is less manpower required, improved safety and making it easier to set up the flight groups. The DSS requirements will also be spelled out on the entry forms. I hope I got all the facts right as Dave told me?

I believe that's why Dave wants to do it.

Isn't it cd's discretion? It sure would be easier on the cd if he didn't have to worry about frequencies, and people to run frequency impounds. That would be a nice time saver for the CD. I don't think there would be many in Masters or FAI that haven't switched yet and will be attending the nats.

I don't believe AMA would do this without NSRCA, as the SIG responsible for
the Pattern portion of the NATS, requesting it. Since Pattern is the only
event flown, there is no real advantage to not allowing 72Mhz, other than
transmitter impound/frequency control manpower requirements.

Earlier, on this list, Tony Stillman stated that there was "no truth to the
rumor" that DSS would be required at the Nats in 2010. Changed?
