OK--now was it mercurochrome or merthiolate that was worse than waterboarding? One of 'em wasn't so bad...

You didn't mention the gallons of Mercurochrome that my mother would slather on me every time I would get a cut or scrape. Who needed waterboarding?

Don’t know how we got on this subject but this is right up my alley being an environmental consultant. In Ohio the EPA closes the schools down when they have a mercury spill. Big waste of time and money but I guess it is worth it if it makes the mommies and daddies sleep better at night. When I was a kid a thermometer rolled under my stereo. Several hours later I found it and it had exploded due to the heat from the stereo releasing mercury gas throughout my bedroom. In high school we used to play hockey in chemistry with liquid mercury. Oh and I like fish which contains small amounts of mercury that bioaccumulates (that is you body can’t get rid of it). No ill effects that I can tell. Also note that many homes and schools contain friable and unfriable asbestos. Asbestos is far worse than mercury and most homeowners never know they have it in their homes when their doing DIY projects.

Now US EPA says carbon dioxide is hazardous to our health. I’m not going outside anymore.

OK I’m off my soap box.

For further education, browse the web for other states position on the subject, for example, California. Enough already, this is a waste of time. Believe as you wish.

Yep, I just hazardous waste clean ups, assessment, and risk analysis for a living so I am probably fairly confused.
