[NSRCA-discussion] Painting

Another inexpensive way to go is to buy an automotive touch up gun from
Harbor Freight for about $25.00. I use one that's a copy of a Binks and it
sprays as well as the Binks Touch Up gun I also have. You will need more air
than an airbrush (25-50 psi) but a compressor is pretty handy to have around
anyway.

it depends on the airbrush. They vary in a MASSIVE way. Some are designed
for detail, some for coverage, and some split the difference. They can also
be as expensive as a full size paint gun for the good ones. But for what we
do, the Iwata revolution or eclipse series are as good as it gets.

A good bottom feed Iwata will set you back about $70-$100, and is worth
every penney. It;'s all about the way it atomizes the paint. Iwata is the
Sata of airbrushes. Don't worry about the more expensive ones unless you are
looking to do murals....you want a tip size of between .35 and .5.

Propellant....it works, but isn't recommended for the volume of area we do.
best to get a compressor. just get one from harbor freight and call it a
day.

This is of course keeping with your guideline of "not too expensive". But
this is one of the best all around set ups for painting.

if you need to clear the whole plane though, you'll need a gun. That's a
different thing altogether.

I'm toying with the idea of doing my own painting on an Impact. Is an
airbrush adequate for this task? What about canned propellant? I don't want
to buy an elaborate setup. Any tips would be appreciated.
