Hello all.

I need to tap the collective expertise here on the web.

As some of you know, I've been working on a gas conversion of an OS 160....it is running very well and I'm quite happy with the weight/performance and ease of use.

BUT I'm having a problem with the muffler coupling.

I'm using a Mueller header and an aeroslave carbon pipe.....the header has a 3/4 in outer diameter.

My first coupling material was teflon tubing from McMasterCarr...the "thick walled" 3/4 inch ID tubing...

This held up pretty well as long as I had the space between the coupled pipes very small...but I was getting contact between the pipes (that was the metal "tinging" that you were hearing, Lance)..which eventually caused a burr on the tube and resulted in a hole in the coupling.....So I made the gap a little wider 1/4 inch or so and now the teflon coupler is melting through in a flight or two.....so I need an alternative material.

I remember that we used to use a thick silicone coupling material for helicopter header/muffler connections but I can't find it anymore...Surely someone here has some ideas and a source where I can get it.

Let's hear it!

Thanks in advance,

George Miller
