Vince,

Plan on a couple of hours drive from La Jolla to Los Angeles or a little
shorter if you take the 15 up toward Riverside.  If you only plan to be
available at 3pm to visit fields then I would suggest that you stick close
to San Diego - Torrey Pines area.  The traffic in LA can get pretty
horrendous...
