A couple of weeks ago I asked about alternatives to MK ball bearing
control horn clevises. Several people suggest Hobby City/Hobby King
(same company) in Hong Kong. I ordered these clevises and control
horns,
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8404&Product_Name=Extra_Strong_Control_Horns_w/_Bearing_24mm_(5sets)
and also just the clevises alone. The quality is easily that of MK
clevises and horns, and at $10.11 for a set of 5 compared to at least
$75 for the MK equivalent, I know where I am buying from now on. They
took about 10 days to get here, and they use PayPal, so your credit
card is not at risk. Since your money is ending up overseas in any
case (China vs. Japan), I see no difference.
For those interested, the clevis accepts a 2mm/2-56 pushrod. They
could easily be drilled for 2.5 or 3 mm, like the different MK clevis
sizes. Like the MK horns, these will require a longer 3mm bolt to fit
our thick surface mounting points. They carry longer bolts also.
These people have many items of interest to the pattern community, so
I'd suggest giving them a look. They might also make a good advertiser
for the K Factor.
