Earl:
A possible cause for 8611 oscillation could also be wire gauge if on a long extension. It's got a more aggressive current pulse than the 8411 and that could be enough to set off an oscillation if the wires are a little on the light side, or if there is a bad connector crimp - anything that might be driving up connection resistance could be a factor. If already using 22 AWG, disregard my comment. It would be interesting to know what the 14MZ refresh rate is though.

I agree with Dave. Also, the 8411 works fine with the 14MZ whereas the 8611 is prone to oscillation (suspect a mismatch with the 14MZ refresh rate).
OTOH, the 9155, BLS351, & 9156 (in order of power) Futaba servos all work well on the rudder @ 6v. I've also noted a different "feel" with the brushless servos that, I suspect, is a result of motor rotor mass. While the total transit time of a brushless & coreless servo may be the same, the brushless seems to start slower which seems to result in a bit smoother feel. I also don't see any benefit to torque above 200 oz - in, but this may vary with airplane design.

I prefer the lighter weight, tighter geartrain, and more aggressive center of the 8411sa. I've not found the added torque of the 8611 necessary.
If oscillation is a problem with the 8411sa, the 8611 may fix this - but the center will not be as aggressive (but it may not be a big enough difference to notice depending on the specific plane and specific linkage system).
Regards,
Dave

I'm interested in feedback from those who are using the 8611 or 8611A on a 2M rudder. Is that extra torque as compared to an 8411 class servo really buying you anything? I'm always reluctant to go to a metal gear servo, although the 8611 is pretty low on slop as MG servos go.
Thanks
Ed
