Jeez...at that kind of cost, buy a pair of them and you'll be set for several years. If one breaks down just toss it. I'm not into E-power but that sure makes sense to me and is what I'd do if I was into E

Jerry,
Funny you should mention that, I bought one brand new yesterday off of Ebay (kipor IG1000) for about half of what the Honda costs! Paid just over $400 shipped to my door.
I am EXTREMELY excited not to have to bum electricity anymore. I will show up at the practice field with two E-pattern planes, 5 fully charged packs, two TP charger and balancer set ups, my generator, and a lunch! Now I just have to find a way to only work till about noon every day (and still pull a full salary) so I have time to practice.

You might look around and see if you find a Kypor brand. As quiet as the Honda, same weight runs great.Had mine for three years--no problems. Paid half of a Honda in a Florida Dealer sale.

The Honeywell 1000 is available through Costco for $299.99 until 01/03/2010. The manual is on their website. It’s a 4 stroke, runs on 87 octane (no mixing), is quiet, etc. IMO, it really seems quite comparable to the Honda 1000. I have two Honda vehicles & a mower . The mower cost me over $700 and hasn’t been perfect. (The vehicles are what we all already know they are). But in this case, is it really necessary to spend more than double for the Honda 1000 ? I’m ready to go with the Honeywell unless the feedback is negative. Who has put some real time (a season or more) on the Honeywell 1000 ?

Earl H. What is your take on all this? What size is yours? Is 1000 watts plenty?

This is it:

They may have a 1KW model as well. I have the 2KW and it works great. It is only slightly louder than the vaunted Yamaha and Hondas, but not by very much. You can stand next to it and have a conversation without a problem. I got my 2KW in a Home Depot screw up sale. I paid $299.95 for mine!! I am very happy with it. I have had it about 7 months now and have not had any issues.

If I remember correctly, someone on the list mentioned that there was a Honeywell generator that worked well for powering our power supplies and chargers and such. For the life of me I can not remember which model that was, can someone please refresh my memory. I thought it was the [Model HW1000i] but I am not sure. How does that one compare as far as sound, fuel efficiency, and reliability compared to the Hondas and such? I know the price is nice at less than $400 bucks brand new.
I am doing the Santa Claus thing for myself and a generator is near the top of the list.
Thanks
Anthony
