Jason only flew AMA Advanced then he went to FAI F3A so yes, the rules DO allow it. :)

Like I said, if the pattern rules allow it, why not??  However, they appear not to do so:

8.2.5: There is no mandatory advancement into FAI from the Masters class. Contestants may enter their current AMA class or the FAI class at any contest but not both.




And pattern does not differentiate classes based on aircraft type as soaring does. Maybe it should. Perhaps we need a 50-sized glow powered plane class. And then 0.90, 1.10, and 1.70 glow class, and an electric class. Then maybe break that up into biplanes and monoplanes while we are at it.  Then get over 300 planes at an event irrespective of the number of individual pilots and there you go!! 9 days or more for pattern!!
