[NSRCA-discussion] Art Wagner

I have a K & E Deci-Lon also. They were introduced about 1962-63 and called
the Deci-Lon in honor of Lonnie Ivey. Ivey was the books & supply stores
manager at NC State University for a long, long time and sold thousands and
thousands of K & E slide rules during those years. I traded my older K&E
duplex Deci-trig to get one of the Deci-lon rules when I graduated because
it was shorter and more compact than the Deci-trig. Of course the
calculators came along about that time and I don't think I've ever used the
Deci-lon. Still have it somewhere unless I gave it to one of the kids.

I still have the TI SR-10 calculator somewhere too. That thing cost over
$300 new back then and it wouldn't even do trig functions.

It's probably a K&E Deci-Lon. I've got one just like it.

Jay, That looks like a Picket & Eckle. I got one around here someplace.

A slide rule - also known as a slip stick. I still have it! Note the hook on
the case so that would-be engineers could carry it around on their belt!

Hey, all you older guys, what is a slide rule? Is that legal jargon?

OK, I do know what one is. For fun, my Step Mother gave me her father's
slide rule.

It's hard to send email with a slide rule, and YouTube is definitely out.

Art does not own a computer. He uses a slider rule.
