Jim,

If you like to build, the Mountain Models Flashback is a nice flying plane.
You can frame it up in about 3-5 hours, and is a true delight to build and
fly.  It uses small, inexpensive motors and batteries.  It will be
significantly lighter than any ARF, although it is a bit smaller than the
others (Brio, etc).

I will also endorse the F3A Shockflier that John spoke about.  It is a good
flying plane, although it can be blown around by winds greater than about 5
mph.
