Too heavy?!  I'll take 1mm packing foam wrapped lipos over NiCd packs
any day!  The first time I flew a foamie outside in the winter I took
the pack straight out of my warm pocket, put it on the plane and the
performance was so bad I though I had accidently attached a discharged
pack - the flight time was less than 1/2 what I was used to.  Without
the insulation the packs loose heat so quickly that they can't keep
themselves warm.  If you're flying below freezing, try the packing foam
- you'll like it.
