[NSRCA-discussion] Motel Room Drapery Liner

It was Jim....

The front of the Smargd (sp?) was totally busted like an eggshell. He went back to the hotel room and got after it. A bottle of thin CA and some Heineken combined with the liner from the bottom of the box spring and it was ready to fly the next day. I also understand that a bedspread was also sacrificed in the process The repair held up until the last landing in the last round on Sunday when the plane collapsed in a heap on rollout.

Mark Hunt and I recieved the carcass the next day and went to work on it. We carefully reassembled all of the eggshell parts and then lined the entire front inside with a sandwich of 1/64 plywood and thin foam sheets soaked with polyurethane glue. We also added some formers and a new LG plate. When all was said and done, the plane still would have made weight without wheel pants.

As far as I know the plane is still living peacfully in the collection of a local flier with a 140 sport in it.

  Richard

Are you sure it wasn't Galligan? It sure sounds like something he'd
do. We need some investigative reporting on this.
