Note that there is a similar effect of radii on six side loops.  The bigger the radius, the narrower the maneuver becomes relative to the overall height due to the width being measured from tangent to tangent on the radii and the height being measured flat to flat.  A properly flown six sided loop with any radii will always appear slightly egg shaped...

Here is a cad sketch.  In this case the radius is 5% of the vertical line length.  Visually it looks appropriate for the size of the maneuver.
