Not by a long shot.

The TWA pilot was Harvey G. "Hoot" Gibson.

The astronaut was Robert Lee "Hoot" Gibson.

Some folks on the list may remember the original
Hoot Gibson, a star in cowboy movies:

The NY Times review of the CBS documentary,
"The Plane That Fell from the Sky" says that
HG Gibson moved to Costa Rica.

This unfortunate landing of a Grumman Goose took
place in Costa Rica. A Hoot Gibson is alleged
to have been at the controls.

Could there be more than one pilot named Hoot Gibson living
in Costa Rica?

My guess is "no," but I don't have any evidence other
than the suspicion.
