Ron,
Go to the Building/Flying/Engine Techniques section of Don Ramsey's web site
(http://pages.suddenlink.net/donramsey/) there is a construction document by
Earl Haury on building a PL Partner. Perhaps this could be of some help.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Impact Gear Installation
I'm building a PL Products Excellence, but am making veerrry slooow
progress. The instructions are awful and written in Frenglish. I
have to think my building several steps ahead to make sure I don't
build myself into a corner.
There appear to be a few honeycomb pieces missing, like the rudder
servo tray and the firewall. I say "appear", because I'm not sure
they were supposed to be included, but are referred to in the
instructions as though I should have them.
Nothing is said about mounting the landing gear in the fuselage and
the "instructions" show retracts in the wings! Didn't Tony
Stillman's Excellence have wing-mounted landing gear and didn't his
wing fail through the landing gear area?
When I e-mailed John Fuqua about this, he told me that I might want
to look at the Impact gear install system. "Basically one 360 former
in the fuse with a second 1/2 former next to it with the landing gear
plate between the two. Former was made out of carbon faced ply. Cut
a slot in th fuse for the gear to slide into and on the gear plate
and held with 3 bolts. Very strong. Used to be pictures on the
website but not sure if they are still there."
If anyone has some suggestions on building the Excellence or the
Impact gear install system (what's the website url?), I'd appreciate
hearing about it. Thanks.
