I know that! That was meant as a compliment!
Hey, I found some 8-32 "truss head" bolts at the hardware store today. I bought a few so I can see how strong they are. If they work out I'm going to use them for axles. The nice part about these is they have a really big head so you don't need a flat washer AND the threads go all the way to the head. In addition, they have a radius cut where the threads end near the head so there is no stress riser there. I also found some 8-32 blind nuts that are quite a bit larger in diameter than the kind you typically find at the hobby shop. This should all work out really nice.

Is not that they aint right, is just that they are all awake waiting for that sunny day to go fly after a long winter.

Yeah, I was thinking "mounting method"? "pants off"? Oh, we are talking about WHEEL PANTS.

Because of this mounting method, Rex has not been able to get his pants off for years.

John
I just glue mine together... If you break the wheel pant, just grind the remainder off and glue another set
on... Pretty simple. I usually use epoxy, but the last set, I used Elmer's Ultimate Glue (Probond). I use the
lightweight aluminum axles from Central, drill the leg and pant... assemble the parts with glue between the
pant and gear leg. After I adjust the attitude of the pant, I simply tighten the axle bolt and let it dry. You
cant get any lighter than that! I've been doing this for years, and haven't had any problems.

I'm looking for a light, reliable method to mount wheels and wheel pants on carbon fiber landing gear legs. Any suggestions?
