[NSRCA-discussion] ASAP District points question

The 2007 points procedure is outlined below.

Several pilots voiced their opinions towards last years decision to allow an
out of district contest. Although it was not a lot of people, more were in
opposition to the idea than those that supported it. So, this year, points
towards the district championship can only be earned by attending District 3
contests.
First place will receive 5 points, second place 4 points, third place 3
points, fourth place 2 points, fifth place one point.
One point is earned for each pilot beaten whether the contestant places
first, second or next to last.
Only five contests count toward the District Championship. If a pilot
competes in seven contests in the district then the points from the best
five counts toward the total points. Note: the District Championship Contest
is counted as one of the five scores.
Pilots in contention for the District Championship do not have to compete at
the District Championship meet to be declared District Champion.
The District Championship meet will be worth 1 1/2 times the points.

You must be a member of NSRCA to accumulate points toward the District
Championship. For new members, contests you attend before you join will not
count.

CD's - all results need to be sent to Lamar Blair either by mail to Decatur,
AL. 35601, or email at Lamar. The top 10 fliers will be listed on the NSRCA
District 3 website and will be published in the K-Factor throughout the
year.

I'll ask Emory at the contest in the morning, but nothing says he will lose
his points if he moves up.

Jason

Each district controls their district championship points - there may be
a
rule, who knows. The D3 points process is discussed in detail on the D3
website:

http://198.144.175.94/d3/feedback.htm

The way I would read this... If your friend moves out of Sportsman into
Intermediate then he effectively won't be eligible for the D3
championship
since he is not flying in that class at year-end. Emory can shed more
light
on this...

I don't see why it would make a difference. If his points hold up, he
wins,
if not, he loses. But Jerry said there is no rule on this, he just can't
move back down (which he doesn't want to).

Not there yet, have some things left to do here.

I'm not sure if he moves up if he keeps his points at the lower level.
Not something that I had to contimplate so far this year. Emory or Lamar
might have the answer. I'm at work whats the turnout down there this
year.

He just doesn't want to lose his points. He doesn't care if he doesn't
win
cause someone gets more points, just doesn't want to lose what he's
worked
for all year.

If he moves up for this contest, at the d-3 championships points are
awarded
1.5X the normal he could possibly be over taken for the dist champion
award
I know there are a lot of sportsman gunning for your friend, something
to
think about.

Hi All,

I have a friend here that has been cleaning up in Sportsman so I
suggested
that he start practicing Intermediate and maybe fly it in the next 2
contests. Well, his practice has been paying off cause he is flying
Intermediate well enough to compete this weekend in Jacksonville. Here's
the
problem. He was told that if he moves up for this last contest he will
lose
all his points in Sportsman.

Is there a rule that states when you move up a class at some point
during
the year (before the end of the year) you lose all the years points
previous
to the contest flown? It's the last contest of the year so he could fly
Sportsman, but he doesn't really want to. I don't want him to lose his
Sportsman points that he's earned all year just for one contest, but he
wants the extra challenge.

Jason
