Thank you Glen, this sounds like what I am after. It's another nice day here
in the Northwest and I will try it this afternoon. Retirement is GREAT.

Jim,

...instead of using the default switch "c" to activate idle down try using a
slider. This provides the ability to set the low idle speed and raise the
idle speed during the flight when desired. This setup is particularly
helpful when the idle speed needs readjusting when the air density
conditions change and affects the idle speed.

Example: Start engine with the slider in the full or near full up position.
Now that the engine is running slowly move the slider to full down position.
Use the standard trim function to fine tune idle speed until a reliable low
idle speed at slider's stop position is achieved. Now the slider position
can be moved up for general flying and returned to the full down for the
ideal slow idle when desired.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Idle Down

Hi all I have a question.
I am using a Futaba 9-C and the idle down feature to drop the idle for
landing. The percentage setting is relative to throttle trim and needs to be
changed if the throttle idle trim is changed. Has someone figured a mix to
get a non-relative absolute idle down setting?
Thanks
Jim Hiller
