  Pardon me, but this was NOT Futaba, this was Spektrum.
   
  I have just purchased the TM-7 2.4ghz module, that was made by Futaba. Does not look like a kludge to me, IMHO.  I can very easily swap between the 2.4ghz and 72mhz modules at any time (and probably will for a while).
