The concept of "frame of reference" is important to the ongoing threads here.

Thought exercises for a rainy day. Debate over a beer or two. ;-D

1. Imagine standing outdoors on a "calm" day at the equator. You are moving at over 1000 mph eastward due to the earth's rotation. Why does it not feel windy? (like VERY windy!)

2. What possible value is a wind tunnel, in which the test model is not moving?

...and the classic..

3. How can a fly inside an airliner fly so fast? Does it feel something pushing it?

Have a virtual beer on me.

Cheers!

Jim
