Nat,
I plan to still cap the edges. Just was gonna hinge on the top of the wing instead of center hinging, Thanks for the help though. I never thought of trying to leave out the balsa framing, but I will definately make sure not to leave it out.

Are you trying to avoid framing the cut-out and ailerons ? I have done two composite wings and had difficulty getting a suitable cut and finish in the "V". They did work fine though. You need to watch the Phil Barnes DVD. Sailplane wings are thin and easier to handle.
You can place a full length Kevlar matt hinge under the top balsa skin and otherwise do the same as with composite. You give up torsional rigidity without the framing.
Personally I will stay with center hinging. Nat

Hi all,
I asked about top hinging wings a while back and got a couple answers, but they were for composite wings. Does anyone know of a site that shows how to top hinge wings with a foam wing or have any advice on the best way to do it? Thanks in advance. I have seen it on a few wings and really like the clean look.
