Bob Pastorello has a good explanation of how to use the DX7 heli throttle
curve for a pattern ship on his web site.

Hey John,
I flew a DX7 in my Focus II this season...from start to finish.
I really liked it and just got my X9303 this past week.
Don't think I'll have time to get it set up for the Focus before the snow
flies here in Iowa but I have been flying a foamie with it.
Back to the DX7.
Joe Dunnaway, a Masters pilot, HAM radio guy and fellow District 5 flyer
took a look at my installation at the first contest this year in Lincoln and
made some suggestions regarding my satellite Rx placement and how I was
orienting my Tx antenna.
At that contest I thought I had a little glitch but now believe it was an
old servo I was using on throttle.
Whatever it was lasted only a fraction of a second and only manifested
itself as a little blip on throttle.
I sincerely believe it was the servo.
No problems the whole season.
I don't know about the "connected feel" people talk about but I can say I
have never been able to roll and airplane like I can roll this one...
Might be just the plane but I have never flown it with any other radio so
can't say for sure.
The only downside I can think of is the trims are a little course and there
is no way to make them finer like on the X9303...
It's not bad though and I lived with it no problem.
One other thing I think I missed is a throttle curve but...
I've never had one before the X9303 and missed it only because I wasn't able
to try it.
I did pay a lot of attention to receiver battery pack condition and would be
happy to share what I did if you like.
I guess in short I can say I'd recommend one if you are thinking of going to
it.
I might even know where you can get a good deal on a DX7 transmitter.
:-)
