Try this:

If you buy the optional GPS and have the real-time downlink, when you plane crashes you just use the last known GPS coordinates and walk straight to the plane. :-)

Too bad it was the Brio with the Atwood scheme . . . . . . you could come up with a new plane in the Andrew Jesky scheme pretty easily (for a price). :)
My KM Star went in on landing approach a couple of years ago and I still don't know why . . . the radio system worked when everything was plugged back together. I am flying other stuff with the receiver and servos, I tossed the battery and switch. You may never know why it went in. Too bad there is no "CSI" video to watch after the fact.

In that regard I have become a HUGE fan of using 1/2 thin wall shrink wrap tubing to secure all of my permanent connections. ALL of them were intact after the crash and in one case (Throttle servo) the connector stayed connected to the extension, but the wire harness ripped out of the connector into the Rx. Ugly...

I sympathize. My Evolution went in on the second flight. I hadnt even flown it; a more experienced pilot was checking it out for me. Went into a lake where the engine still rests. I did salvage the FASST radio and the digital servos that part floated.
Looks like the battery connection was bad. Never again will I fly w/o safety clips on all of the servo extensions and battery.

Mark,
Sorry to hear about your loss of the Brio.
It always seems twice as bad when it happens to a new
plane and you cannot put your finger on what caused the
problem.

Hey All,
Had a bad day with a new Brio at the flying field. 9th or 10th total flight...just starting to get it trimmed out, first maneuver of F-07, downline snap, about to push to inverted...and nothing. :( Not sure what happened...no interference. Battery was checked prior to the flight, but had 0 voltage afterwards. Havent checked the system for a short yet...crash was brutal though, so hard to know what was cause, and what was result.
Amazing the sound these planes make when they crunch. Complete carnage in a newly plowed cornfield.
Anyhow, now that Im done drying my tears, I need a good backup plane. Preferably something similar to the Brio, (Ideally another Brio). Anyone have something thats built and ready for a 1.60DZ (that Ill need to rebuild too, since the crash torn the side off the crankcase!!)
If so, please contact me off list! Atwoodm at paragon-inc.com
Thanks!
Mark
