Thanks for everyone taking the time to respond and to air your suggestions and criticisms.
Let me say for the record.
1. The NATS is NOT going to be an event that requires qualification, at least not anytime in the foreseeable future!
2. The NATS numbers continue to decline at a very small rate. If the EC does not look at why and take some action, the NATS as we know it will cease to exist.
3. NSRCA is an organization that each of you should be very proud of. I know I am! They are one of AMA's flagship SIGS and do a great job of administering the Pattern NATS.
4. We have almost 30 events held at the NATS each year that have less than 10 competitors in it. Most of these 30 have 2-5 competitors. I don't see how you can win a "contest" with 3 people entered and call yourself the "US National Champion". A minimum number of competitors are being considered. If an event falls below that number, the event will not be flown.
I am a member of this discussion group just for that, discussion. As a past NSRCA President and AMA District Vice-President, I value your input and ideas. I appreciate your comments, either pro or con of any ideas that were communicated. We all feel very passionate about Pattern, and that is as it should be! As the Nats Review Committee continues its work, I will keep you informed as to what ideas are being floated. I am sure many of you are tired of this thread, so I wanted to officially close it. Please feel free to e-mail me with your ideas and concerns. After all, I am here to represent the membership, and that is YOU!!
