An option that might be explored...
Request NSRCA contests to allot $1 or $5 (something) per contestant to the support of the F3A competition team.
It would almost certainly mean the cost of attending a contest would go up...
Another option is to provide an F3A team contribution link on the NSRCA site.
Pattern flyers would be the most likely to support the Pattern team...

The US team fund is something I really believe in. It takes a lot of $$ to send our boys abroad like that, and what we generally get in donations is barely a drop in the bucket.
I had a talk with Cameron and we are going to see what we can do, hopefully we can generate some funds somehow. Our team needs support. It's important to note that teams from a lot of other countries get a good deal of support, and we sort of pale by comparison. Likewise, pattern in general in other countries is much more suported by the general population, in the US it's still just toy planes. While true, it's like saying professional football is just a game.

Mike,
Nice effort in promoting the event. I am particularly pleased about your concept of a 2007 USA F3A Team Raffle!

Hi fellow pattern addicts and future pattern competitors!
I want to invite ALL of you to the GMA contest on April 21-22, held at the GMA field in Ball Ground, Ga. just north of Atlanta. The initial head count looks pretty good, so this may be one for the books. My ace scorekeeper (Melissa) will be doing the scoring, so you know you'll get your scores practically before you have time to put your transmitter back in the case.
The field will be open for practice starting noon Friday, so come on down and get some practice and feedback. if any new pilots are interested, I'll hold a seminar on Friday afternoon, so don't be intimidated if you've never done it before. You'll know exactly what to expect and exactly what to do. The flying part is up to you, however. If you've been toying with the idea of flying in a pattern contest, this is the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet. I will be actively seeking to hook up new pilots with those more experienced, if wanted.
Registration will begin on Friday, so please get that part done early if you can. The sooner we get that part done, the sooner we can start flying Saturday! The official pilot's meeting will be at 8:30am on Saturday morning, April 21. The plan is 6 rounds, weather and time permitting. FAI will fly P and F. One F round WILL count. So get to practicing those Ss and rollers!!
We have strong rumors that a few top pilots will be in attendance. The Shulman brothers, Bryan Hebert, possibly Dave Lockhart to name a few. (Not putting you on the spot guys....much...LOL)
Chris Hinson of Extreme Flight has generously offer a full Vanquish package, plane, motor and controller so that will be one of the many extras for a prize or raffle for the world team (not sure yet). Also we are working to get some World team merchandise on hand as well. We should have a strong showing from suppliers so it should be a great opportunity to check out some new stuff.
One note to consider: I STRONGLY advise you to ignore the weather forecast unless a hurricane is over our head. April in Ga is pretty wild. Those in attendance last year know what I mean. It could do anything, but over the course of the weekend, we will get the rounds in if at all possible. We're having a warm early spring so who knows. Last year you'd swear by the forecast we couldn't have flown, yet we got all 6 rounds in. So don't fret, make the drive!! (or flight?)
I have a flyer posted here: http://www.customairframes.com/gmaflyer.pdf
Feel free to contact me for any additional info you may need. My cell # is on my site, (www.customairframes.com) and my email addy is kerlock at comcast.net
Come on out and let's break some attendance records!!!! This is a good chance to make a statement: pattern is alive and well, but only if you come fly it!!! you guys from the Carolinas and anywhere within driving distance need to come down for a visit, it should be quite a good time. I promise we will deliver a world class event, and one you won't soon forget.
-Mike
