I am flying the the YAK 56 (composite ARF 2.6 meter). I am using one 8611A servo in the rudder. I can fly in knife edge all along the runway with no problem. The plane is around 26 lbs using the Mintor 110 cc with soft mount. This in not set up for 3 D. I have 2:1 leverage between the servo and the horn (around 35 degree max throw). I am saving around 1 lb and probably around $200 in cost or more. If you want to set it up for 3D (60 degree throw) probably one 8711 will do the job.

I don't see where the 8611 will be useful in pattern applications.

Regards,

No more than you would need for an 8611A and an 8411 together. It really depends on what you're asking it to do. What application would it have in a pattern airplane?

How much battery power is going to be required to make these babies talk?

If I just did my math right (its still early for me) with a 1 foot servo arm, it could lift 2 lbs. With a one inch arm, 25 lbs.

Yeah, it will warp something alright. We will need to pay serious attention to how these servos get mounted.

Yikes with a number like that maybe we can start eliminating hinging the ailerons and go with wing warping. Mike

I hope this is not taken as an Advertisement, but I just received an email that the JR 8711's are out. My gosh it's got 400 in oz. + on 6 volts. If I had a surface hang up I think it'd probably bust my plane in half:-)
