[NSRCA-discussion] OS 2.00 FS-FI

Chris: Ditto, I started flying the full size stuff in the mid fifties and
some of my relatives before that. There was one axiom understood: and soon
learned by the beginners " there are two things that keep your airplane in
the air, altitude and money." Like it or not "it's a fact Jack." And even
though I don't like it, I don't have half of what it takes for the full size
stuff anymore. So...... I don't do it. If some think that engines and
competitive pattern airplanes are too expensive, try paying $500.00 a bolt,
times eight, for Beechcraft wing bolts because the FAA doesn't like the old
ones and the $27K of other stuff, just to get an annual done. I know it's
not fair for me not to be able to fly the 1968 Duke any more but I haven't
found anyone in the government or elsewhere to make it fair and subsidize my
flying. LOL.... 'Sniff ' too bad, I'll just have to stick to my toy
airplanes. The price of pattern engines/motors and airplanes doesn't seem
all that expensive. Jerry

Matt, I think you are right. I can't imagine this getting too many takers.

(Next is general rant and not aimed at all toward you Matt)
My bigger issue is why do some people on this list just bash stuff
because it is expensive? If you think it is too much just don't buy
one. We ALL know that spending money will not make you a better flyer
by itself. But some people might like to buy the best stuff because
this is a HOBBY and they like playing with nice toys. Let it go guys.
Tiger Woods does not cringe in fear because a regular guy buys the
newest $1000 driver, nor will the OS 200 make an average flyer great.
Money is not a requirement for success. Practice and practice and
practice is the key. Please let the snide comments about the cost of
stuff go. If it is too much for you to spend on a toy motor, don't buy
one. I won't spend that much, but someone else will be happy to and I
say that's great because this is a HOBBY and he/she is doing what makes
them happy. An $1800 motor will not put the average guy in the winners
circle nor will it ever be a requirement to compete on a high level. We
all know that.
