Tim:
The batteries solder in, and you will need a specific one for the 8303
One
that has solder tabs
. The life-span is 3-5 years

Thanks for heads up Tony - Ive taken several of my Txs apart in the past
for springs, pots, etc. so Im fairly comfortable with that aspect of it.
Sounds like I just need to find the location of the battery, and pop a new
one in to restore the memory backup.
What is the typical life-span for these batteries in the 8303?

After watching Tony replace the memory battery in my Futaba 9ZAP, I wouldn't
want to do it myself. It looks like open heart surgery, with circuit boards
laid aside on ribbon connectors. It isn't a pretty sight. If the JR 8303
is anything like the 9Z, don't try it yourself.

Yep, the internal battery went below the 3v minimum to retain the memory
The battery will have to be replaced.

I was headed out to the field on the weekend, and checked the voltage in my
Tx on the way out of the basement, only to get a Backup Error message on
the screen. When I turned off and back on again, everything was fine, except
for the fact that all memory had been erased. Its a time waster to transfer
all the settings back in (I have them backed up on paper), but I need to
know the cause.
Im assuming this is a failure of the internal backup battery (assuming
there is one?), but I wanted to poll the list before I started hunting
around to see if I could replace such a beast myself.
Thanks for any ideas,
