Be sure to add the sugar BEFORE you add the ice!
I remember going to a contest up north one time. We were at a restaurant and asked for sweet tea. "What?? We don't serve sweet tea." Gary Harris told the waitress to bring out a pitcher of warm tea, some sugar, and a pitcher of ice. Hey, if you can't be in the south, you make do the best you can. ;-)

Anyone alive out there?
Yes. I was sitting at my computer, wondering why it was so quiet.
Are we all out flying on the ice?
Ice? What's that?
