Bolly landing gear...
John,
The Bolly gear may be saving you over an ounce per gear leg. Using a disc/belt sander a narrowed the mounting tabs and added thin CA and a 1 ounce cloth band around the end of the newly narrowed tab. The solution worked for hundreds of flights. Remember to let the model slow before the 90 degree turn at the end of a landing, virtually no composite gear can handle the side loads.
Merry Christmas!
Rusty

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Boley landing gear
I got my Boley F3A carbon gear in from Maureen this past week.
These appear to be MUCH lighter than the stock fiberglass gear on my Focus II.
I'd like to ask folks on the list that have a FocusII AND have replaced the original gear with the Boley's if they have any suggestions.
I haven't looked real hard at the install yet but there appears to be two differences:
1- The Boley's have a lot more rearward "rake".
2- The mounting are on the Boley's appear to be much wider...I'm curious if the FocusII gear plate will accept them.
Thanks!
John L. Konneker
