For those inclined to get "primitive" as Jim put it, here's what has worked for me:
I use a tool designed for circle cuts mounted in a drill press, to cut the ID in rubber sheet stock. I measure the engine's front block and then adjust the tool to give me the exact cut.
The sheet is then cut in the form of a nose ring in my band saw, leaving about 3/16" edge all around, and "ears" at the mounting locations. Takes about 15 minutes of work and voila, the exact fit one needs and the whole thing is made of rubber

Well after Vaughn told me the same thing, I mic-ed the 2 motors I had and they are indeed different, that's why there is no standard O ring that makes it all happy. So, a few minutes with a dremel and a lot of patience seems to be the answer. Just keep it round =)
On that same note, I made the mistake early on of using the nose ring as-is. It may as well had been hard mounted. Everything on the plane shook loose....screws, adjusters, rattled the antenna out of the tube, you name it. Cost me a set of servos before I had that conversation and fixed it.
"Don't be that guy"....LOL

Thanks Mike,
I can get primitive on the O-ring J I was hoping for a McMaster Carr P/N. If I find one, I think it would be a good idea for Central to supply two sizes of O-rings with unit to ensure it fits the motors.
Thanks,
Jim

After much discussion, trial and error, the "fix" to this is to gently remove material from the O ring with a dremel and large drum sander, until it is a slip fit. You don't want it sloppy, but it should slide on and off without having to force it. Install with some lithium grease and you're all set! I've had to do a ton like this.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Nose-Rings: O-ring replacement for CH nosering?
Hi Guys,
A while back Clayton Foster was making the CFE nose-rings and they always seemed to fit perfectly – snug but allows the engine to still rock back and forth. I understand now that he is no longer making them, and that the Central Hobbies Nose-ring was supposed to be a replacement for it. I have had several of the CH nose-rings and they fit so tightly as to form nearly a welded lock of the rubber to the motor. I’m not opposed to making my own nose-rings, but I actually like the idea of being able to purchase something and use it once in a while too.
Has anyone found a P/N or different size O-ring to make these units fit the YS correctly? After just speaking to Vaughn, he felt that the YS dimensional variances were too much to deal with so they shot for the middle ground. If anyone has spec’d or tried a new o-ring for this device and could pass it along that would be great.
Thanks,
Jim
