  Actually, what a truss head screw profile looks like is a very thin pan-head style. The one you described is actually called an oval head screw. THis link will show you all the different head types: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screw
   
  To find a 4-40 screw that is indeed truss or oval head, try www.fastener-express.com
  I also have an Aviall across the street from the airport I work at, I can call and see if they have them that small.
