[NSRCA-discussion] Reducing the odds...

Jeff

Bernd Beschorner ran this setup in France...I have no numbers for the improvment in cooling but I know from my own experience when I took the spinner off and just let air enter the front of the motor it was a huge difference so it probably works quite well.

The other (cheaper) option is to get a plastic spinner that mounts with screws around the edges (great planes makes them I think) and simply cut a hole in the front of the spinner. Remove as many spokes on the backplate as possible.

Rex L. also did a neat mod to his TT spinner that he say's works very well.

I think you will see a lot of good ideas for cooling outrunners coming this summer that are simple, low cost and effective....it just takes time for everyone to get the R&D done :)

Problem for myself is that with our climate cooling is not really an issue....we are lucky to see more than 80-85F for most of the year :) Let me tell you, at 50-60F things stay very cool :)
