The only news I have is from Don Lowe, who called and ragged me about  
not being there.  He was competing in his first Pattern contest in  
"forever" (his words).  He said that he was pleased that he hadn't  
crashed, but I got no news on how the contest was going.

I explained that I hadn't recuperated yet from recent surgery to  
repair a hole in the macula of my right eye.
