Trans Tasman 06Tom,

Who were the other two fliers on the team - I suspect Bill and Gavin ?

  Hi again all,

Just wanted to tell you all I'm back from New Zealand from a very
successful Trans Tasman comp. It was very enjoyable, even more so due to the
never ending humour of Frazer Briggs and his Kiwi mates.

In the interest of unadulterated self promotion<VBG>.... I had my 'behind'
kicked well and truly. We flew a format of six rounds of P-07 on Saturday,
two of F-07 and an unknown on Sunday.

Saturday was going well for the Australian team, and somehow ( still
wondering how!!) I found myself in second place, right behind Frazer , after
six rounds of P-07.

I must say that I found Frazer's F3A flying extremely pleasing ( not
trying to make myself look better here...but......) . I believe Frazer was
extremely unhappy with his last W/C result and has since cleaned up his act
dramatically. I'd expect him to continue to improve right up until the next
w/c-look out guys- I think he is cranky enough ( is that possible with
Frazer??) to rock the boat next time. His IMAC flying skills offcourse need
no further introduction!!!!

Well here I was, second to Frazer, and with the rest of the guys we
secured the TEAM trophy. This was a major success for us-we would have been
very embarrassed had we lost the team trophy, especially since it has a 39
year history!!!

Sunday is when it all went pear shaped for me personally. I had two very
ordinary F flights, somehow I was spooked ( shouldn't have looked at my
scores!!). The unknown was a hoot, though at the time a bottle of blood
pressure pills would not have been sufficient!!

Frazer stuck us into a tent and we were marched out, one at a time, like a
lamb to the slaughter.
Being in the tent, we could not watch/see anyone else's unknown flight and
we did not know who was up next as the names were only pulled out of the hat
as the next victim walked out to fly. Nerve wrecking I tell you!!

The unknown went great for me......until I hit the middle section of
snaps, more snaps, downwind 1 roller to inside, snaps and more snaps again
(&*^^*&*&!$%&(!!!.

Well it all turned to custard for me then. I should have stuffed a
magazine down my pants as I still have trouble sitting!! Never mind ...at
least we brought home the Team trophy.

Thanks to Frazer and lads for an awesome experience in the land of the
long white cloud. BTW...he says hello to all you boys he knows over in the
US.

  Tom

BTW..if any of you travel down to New Zealand...watch out for them ORCKS
and Nasgool....<VBG> strangely enough I never saw one Hobbit!!!
