That’s very odd your unit did not come with fuses.  Was it a used unit?
Yes, the fuses are used for reverse polarity protection. The DLS-55A’s unit comes with qty 2 – 30A Fuses.
I understand they are just standard fuses you can purchase.

 I have a dls 55 it didn't come with fuses, is the fuse a secondary system for reverse polarity? Or do I need to buy fuses and what type?
