Actually, I was interested in the Gossamer Condor as a spaceship. Remember the song? "A flight to the moon on Gossamer wings?"
Actually, I owned a Stinson and a Comanche, (both with magnetos, of course) and my first air carrier airplane was the DC-6/7 series by Douglas Aircraft. R-2800 and R-3350 engines.

I'll bet you trained in something that had MAGNETOS. I know you did not solo in a 7x7.
Come to think of it, you are so old, maybe you trained in something that was foot powered. :-)
