Have you tried heating them to make them weaker?

Does anyone have a source for some in between the originals and what radio
south sells.  I find the originals too soft for my taste but I just bought
some from Radio South and installed them in the 14 MZ and found them to be
too stiff :)  They were also a pain to install as one of the ends need to be
bent 90 degrees to fit right.

I want to by the heavy duty transmitter spring but am having a hard 
time getting some.  If anyone has a set the want to sell or know where 
I can get a set for a 9C let me know.
