[NSRCA-discussion] YS140DZ idle question

I had a DZ140 which had exactly the same characteristics. I tried everything
to fix it and in the end I bought a DZ160. It is a much better engine than
the 140 and it seems to meter its fuel better for some reason. It is also
happier running on the HV oils which I prefer to run in our climate.

I know it is not the answer you are looking for but IMHO the DZ140 was a pig
of an engine.

I got rid of both of my 140's and haven't looked back. It just wasn't worth
the frustration in the end.

Peter

Michael

I had bad fuel that caused that problem. Have you tried fresh fuel?

Also Troy Newman has several post in our archives(discussion) about DZ
problems that may shed some light for you.

OK list, I have a question for you. I have a 140DZ that will not idle below
2300ish RPM. Richard Lindberg and I have adjusted the regulator, but it
appears to have little or no effect. I might be able to get one flight in,
but eventually, on a down line, it will die and 7 dead sticks are not that
fun to try. Full power seems to hold just fine. We figured there might be
an air leak, and that is why it seemed to idle worse after a warm up flight,
so I replaced the valve cover gasket and the other gaskets at the backplate,
but that did not seam to make a difference. Anybody got any ideas besides
the usual OS/Webra/Mintor/E-power/power slope soaring comments?
